When we got married, to get Taew her permanent residency card, we needed to file form I-485 to adjust her status from an F-1 student visa to a permanent resident due to marriage. When someone changes their status in the US to a resident by means of getting married, there is a two year “evaluation” period of sorts. Within the 90 day window before the permanent resident card expires, a second form (I-751) needs to be filed. This form is a petition to remove conditions on her residence in the US. This form is required for Taew to remain here. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After two long nights taping photos to paper and adding captions to them, putting the photos and supporting documents into plastic page sleeves, assembling everything into a 3-ring binder, constantly double-checking we had everything and the form was signed by both of us, and writing the $680 check, everything was finally complete. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
